(I posted this on another forum a long time ago and saw the movie again just now, so I copy/pasted cuz I'm a lazy git.)

Not to be confused with the totally different Sunshine from 1999 (though there's one actor who plays in both).

It's about 50 years in the future. The sun is dying and a first mission to make it bloom again has failed. So they send another crew of eight to fix the sun with a bomb equalling the mass of Manhattan. The movie starts off a bit strange and you might think it's going to be something lame and overly dramatic but as the movie went along I was right at the edge of my seat, literally. I was watching breathless at the beautiful scenes, the decent acting, the unimaginable plot and the grand finale thriller. Not to mention the good musical score.
A movie from the same makers of Trainspotting and 28 Days Later is not without its seemingly unrealism but it doesn't cut anything off the movie's wow-factor and the incredible special effects in every single scene, every shot. Without a doubt the best movie I've watched in a while.

I just saw this one again on my new big monitor and it's still as good as the first time if not better.

I also found out why I like the musical score so much. Its composer is John Murphy who's done Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch! for example, but his best work was for 28 Days/Weeks Later and he has recently done Kick Ass which is quite well-known, I believe. Definitely a genius when it comes to film music, I rate him second only to Ennio Morricone.

This is definitely one of my favorite movies. I throw the soundtrack on when I'm writing for extra-spooky ambiance. The movie also inspired a couple short stories of mine.

Two things:
One, everybody should see this movie, right?
Two, why aren't your short stories in the fiction board?

1) Yes, it was a great movie.
2) I think he can't post them because he's trying to have them published.

What Bazin said.

Those I have written and doled out to the public are available on my website, though. www.rhoadsfiction.com
